SBM1: 'Sitting Back Massage'

This course will enable therapists to take their work into the workplace or the client's home and is especially useful for treating stress related problems, desk bound clients and Repetitive Strain Injury. Also used for the elderly or pregnant clients who are unable to lie down.

This form of treatment will extend the possibilities of the therapists's practice and repertoire. We anticipate that this will be a very popular course and recommend that you do not delay in reserving your place.

Sitting Back Massage reduces tension in the back, neck and shoulders; thus providing deep relaxation. It promotes circulation and muscle stimulation. This Massage has become a popular way to introduce the general public to the benefits of professional massage.

* The spine & how to find individual vertebrae

* The nerves of the spine: how misaligned vertebrae can affect the body

* The Core Muscles of the back: finger pressure points for lower back pain

* Compression test for the neck, Head/neck mobility, Thoracic mobility, Lumbar mobility, Discs 'slipped', Symmetry of chest expansion

* Length of Sessions: how to adjust for the clients requirements

* How to seat the client

* How to market your therapies

* Negotiating skills: with management to use the therapy in the workplace

* Exercises and tips for clients

* Practical Routines: clothed and unclothed

* How to do a facial with the client seated

* Suggested uses in both the home and the workplace

* The art of utilising equipment found in the workplace or home

Post-graduate qualification course, during which the student is assessed for competence. Subject to you already holding an appropriate therapy qualification, the assessment being satisfactory and the approval of your Governing Body and Insurance Company, it can be added to your list of qualifications.

Many Associations accept our courses for CPD including the IFPA (6 Category A Points), CThA Post Graduate Qualification (5 CPD credits) & FHT (10 CPPD accreditation points).
